Ultima Online Seattle Luncheon

My friend, Nai Grath, and I finally arrive at 1pm, almost an hour late. On the twelth floor we were met by Joshua Rowan at the sign in table. We created our name tags, (most people were going with player name, shard) given our lunch tickets and were warned that there weren't many seats left. I also had on my tailoring and Lake Superior buttons that I had made.

After looking around for a while we found a seat with two people form Napa Valley. The first thing I noticed when I sat at the table was the place mat (we got to keep them), the Itinerary and the UO stick on tattoos.

I was eating my salad and talking to the people at the table with us when I decided to look around. At first my mind was really confused because I had no idea where I was in the room. When we first sat down they had mentioned that the platform we were on rotated. There were a bunch of tables all around the room, then there was the platform in the middle that rotated fully every hour. Then my London Broil Lunch came so I ate that and again was slightly confused when taking a look around after finished eating. We sat and talked for a while, then I decided to head over to the table with the OSI employees.

The first person I ran in to at the table with the Origin employees was Seer DeGodefroi (GL). We chatted for a little while, then got his signature. Next was Runesabre, I had a nice small chat with with him. I warned him to stay away from the people at our table, they like to annoy people for fun. I also got his signature.

I was going to go over to LadyMOI, but she was busy, so I though it would be best to try later. I made my way back to our table. I ended up walking around 3/4ths of the room because I went to where our seat used to be when I left. I guess 45 min must have passed. After talking for a bit with the Napa people again, I decided to search out some fellow Lake Superior players. I was in luck, I found a table of three LS players. I talked with them until the Door Prizes started.

First round I won nothing. There were Origin pants, sweat shirts, pewter pull zippers, and Ultima VII music CDs. They then gave out the UO Second Age CDs to anyone that didn't have it. Well, actually they ended up giving them out to anyone that knew someone that didn't have T2A. Next was the Q&A

The Napa guy across the table from me won one of the two Ultima Archive Grand Prizes signed by Richard Garriott. LadyMOI stated that "I saw Richard sign them myself yesterday".

I walked over to LadyMOI that had moved back to her seat, but she was already busy talking to someone about the Ascension demo was not going to take place because the computer they brought wasn't working right. She said that next time she'll make sure to bring a computer that she'd booted up before. Then she started to try to explain all the problem in trying to get a packet from the server to the client. That was rather amusing, but she did a pretty good job of explaining as simply as possible some of the problems of working with the Internet. Finally I was about to move in, but two people moved in and got signatures first. I then lent my pen to a guy to get his Second Age book signed first. Good things happen to people who wait right? Next I had a nice little chat with her, got my book signed , and got this digital picture taken with her. I only wish I had thought to bring my tape recorder with me from the table. She said she really liked my pins and thought my digital camera was cool. I have the Kodak DC210. (I took all pictures at the luncheon with this camera)

I was having to much fun though. :o)

I tried to go talk to Joshua Rowan, but he was to busy handing out tickets to the baseball game, so I headed back over to listen to what LadyMOI was saying. I couldn't hear most of it, but Runesabre turned around to ask when the demo was going to be held. LadyMOI responded saying there wasn't going to be one. He asked why. She responded that the computer they brought wasn't working right. Joshua Rowan started to head up to the podium, then turned around and asked LadyMOI what he was supposed to tell every one. She told him just to say that the computer wasn't working so there isn't going to be a demo.

Joshua heads up to the podium and announces that there's not going to be a demo because the computer they brought doesn't work and he's sorry "Its my fault, we should have brought a computer that worked". Right then LadyMOI says "No, its my fault blame me.", then tips her head back, puts her hands to her mouth and yells out "Its my fault, blame me! Its my fault, I suck!". Then she murdered that she couldn't let him take the blame for her mistake.

I wandered back over to Nai Grath and we decided to start the long trip back. Not feeling right leaving with out saying bye to someone, I went over to the Lake Superior group in the corner and said bye to them. I even got their UO names recorded on tape, or so I thought. I must have accidentally flipped the pause button, so when I went to review the tapes on the way home I found out that I hadn't recorded their UO nicks. Oh well, I guess there's always next year.
